Hay River, known as “the Hub of the North,” is located on the south shore of Great Slave Lake, at the mouth of the Hay River. Over half of the town’s population is indigenous, made up of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit.
Hay River is home to the Northern Farm Training Institute which teaches folks how to sustainably produce local food in their own northern communities. This page will continue to grow as Suzanne gathers more knowledge about eating locally in and around Hay River.
